How to choose an AI agent agency in Chile: 7 questions before hiring
Everyone sells "AI" now. Seven questions to tell a provider that automates real processes from one that adds a chatbot, plus the red flags to watch for.
Why it is hard to choose
In Chile today everyone is selling "AI": marketing agencies adding a chatbot, accounting software with new features, foreign platforms and consultancies that build custom agents. They all use the same words, so the difference is in asking the right questions.
1. Which complete process will they automate?
A good provider does not sell you "a chatbot" or "AI for your company". They tell you which process they will take end to end: quoting on WhatsApp, collecting overdue invoices, reconciling bank statements, building the monthly report. If after the first meeting you cannot name the process, there is no project yet.
2. Do they have real cases with numbers?
Ask for cases with concrete, verifiable figures, not round percentages with no client behind them. For example: a WhatsApp sales agent for a fuel tank distributor that automated 90% of the flow and cut response time by 80%, or a mining fleet of 120+ vehicles that reduced downtime by 35%.
3. Does it connect with what you already use?
The value is in the integrations: your ERP, your CRM, your email, your WhatsApp and those Excel files nobody wants to touch. Ask how they connect to systems with no API. If the answer is "you would need to switch systems", that is a migration, not automation.
4. What does the agent do when it does not know?
Every agent will get something wrong at some point. What matters is what happens then: whether it hands off to a person, whether it logs why it decided something, and whether there is an approval step before sensitive actions like paying or posting entries.
5. Who maintains it after delivery?
Processes change: new prices, another ERP, different rules. An agent without maintenance degrades within months. Ask what support includes, how long it lasts and which reports you will get.
6. Where does your data live?
Ask in writing how data is protected, who has access and whether it is used to train external models. A serious provider puts it in the contract.
7. When do you see the first result?
Be wary of six-month projects before anything works. A reasonable plan shows a first visible result in the first week and the complete process within a few weeks, tested on your real data.
Red flags
- Fixed prices without having seen your process
- Demos on sample data that are never tested on yours
- Promises to "replace the whole team" without explaining what each agent does
- No plan for when the agent fails
